I just got my new Ikea catalog in the mail the other day. I love looking through it. I could fold down about every other page marking something I want or that inspires me. It's actually a good thing I don't live closer to one or I'd be there all the time.
As I was flipping quickly through the pages the other day, I was trying to pay attention to the patterns. There was a pillow that caught my eye. It had lots of thin stripes that looked like they were all laying on top of each other, none of them quite reaching the edges.
Of course, I tried to apply the same design to my nails. This was ridiculously easy and I absolutely love it! I couldn't really see the colors of the textile in the photo, so I chose my own. I started with my newest white polish, Julep Brigitte. I was impressed with the coverage and again when I saw no bubbles! My China Glaze White On has great coverage, but you pay a high price for it in bubbles. So annoying! I didn't find that with Brigitte. I grabbed my smallest striping brush and went to work.
I didn't have any pattern or rhyme or reason to my brush strokes. I just tried to make sure they didn't reach the edges of my nail to leave some white showing through. My colors are Milani Fresh Teal, Jordana Orangesicle, Wet 'n Wild On a Trip and China Glaze Liquid Leather. I really love this design and think the white really makes the colors and pattern pop out at you. I topped it off with a quick coat of Jordana Quick Dry top coat, then a finishing coat of Jordana Quick Shine top coat.
